Work Done (Weeks 5-6)
As for this week, I continued to work on the upper floors leading up to a larger three floor atrium that will house a destroyed section with traversal methods to advance to the higher floors. This part was especially difficult for me as hospitals are typically enclosed spaces without any room for a third person character camera to follow. I had to look up reference images from other games that somewhat fit with Division’s post-apocalyptic theme, such as Last of Us and Dying Light.
After the Hall section

This room is a “pause” point for the player to restock on their ammo and to ease the intensity between combat areas, as indicated by the blue resupply box.
Into the ICU wards

I blocked out this room following generic ICU wards from real world examples. The walls on the left act as secondary cover for both the player and their enemies. The far end of the room is lift shaft with a ladder that brings the player up one level.
Small Office Room

After exiting the lift shaft in the next level, the player has to fight through a small mob of enemies in more close quarter combat.
Isolation Ward

The room following the office is an isolation ward that is subdivided into two areas. Enemies will barge in from the door on the outer room (where the blue resupply box is) and a shoot out will commence where the player will take cover in the inner room.
Large Atrium

This atrium is still in the planning stage. Judging by the exterior of the building in the real world, there has to be an atrium in the inside as well, and probably a small cafe by the side. In my blockout, I will omit certain parts of the ground floor as I want the player to fight from above without needing to go down a floor by using the elevated walkways.
Goals for Next Week
My goals for next week will be to continue improving on my blockouts and progress on towards the middle of the mission.
